Eiffel Tower ticket types

The tower has three visitor levels: the first floor, the second floor and the summit. The summit, called “the top” on the official site, is at 276 m. Second floor and summit tickets both take you through the lower floors. What you choose is how you go up and how high you go:
- Second floor by lift.
- Second floor by stairs.
- Summit by lift: one lift to the second floor and a second lift to the top.
- Summit by stairs to the second floor, then the lift to the top.
There are no stairs open to the public above the second floor, so every summit ticket uses the top lift.

The official site also sells packages. Adult prices in 2026:

Lift or stairs?

The stairs tickets are the cheapest way up, and the stairs run inside the tower’s legs, so you see the iron structure up close. They suit visitors who are fit and happy with a long climb. The official site warns that the summit and the stairways are not suitable for people with limited mobility.
The lift is faster and easier for small children, older travellers and anyone who would rather not climb. The summit by stairs then lift ticket is a middle option: you climb to the second floor and save EUR 8.70 per adult against the full lift ticket.
From 29 September 2026, stairs tickets must be booked in advance, the same as lift tickets.

How to buy Eiffel Tower tickets
The only official online ticket office is on toureiffel.paris. Tickets are also sold on site at the same rates. A few points:
- Book online for a fixed time slot, especially in busy periods.
- Combination packages with champagne, meals or guided tours are only sold online.
- Groups of more than nine people, including the guide, must book through the professional site, ticketpro.toureiffel.paris, from 29 September 2026.
- Resellers and tour operators often charge more than the official price. Compare with the table above.
Official site or reseller?
Third-party sites also sell Eiffel Tower tickets, often bundled with a guide or a river cruise at a higher price. If you buy from one, check the ticket type, the time and whether the summit is included before you pay.
Opening times

Opening hours are set by date. The official site has a calendar where you click a date to see that day’s times. The visitor regulations give the usual pattern as 9:30 am to 11:45 pm, and 9:00 am to 12:45 am in summer. Ticket sales end before closing, and the last lift to the summit leaves earlier than the last lift to the second floor.
The operator states that all times can change without notice, and that the summit may close during severe weather or at peak times. If the summit is closed, check the official terms for what happens to your ticket.
Security and what to bring

- Bags are checked at the entrance, and public areas can be closed if needed.
- Large luggage and pets are not allowed, except guide dogs. There is no left luggage, so leave suitcases at your hotel.
- Bring ID for youth, child or disabled rates.
- The official site says it is always windy at the top. Take a jacket, even in summer.
What you see from the tower

From the second floor and the summit, the view covers central Paris. On the Trocadero side you look across the Seine to the Palais de Chaillot. To the south and east, the Champ de Mars runs toward the École Militaire, and the gold dome of Les Invalides stands out among the rooftops.

The view at night is different, with the city lit up below you. In summer, the later closing time gives more evening slots.
